On Sunday 21st August 2011 The Southern Leonberger Carting Group was asked if we would present the winning trophies at the Buckham Fair which the actor Martin Clunes holds every year to raise money for different causes, this year it was in aid of the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance. Well we couldn't say no could we,after all our Leos deserve to be seen with the best. This meant a very early start in the morning to get down to Beaminster for 7am. We were not given much information on the event when we agreed to do this, apart from presenting the trophies, so we did not know what to expect on the day. We were short on people and Leos for this event as Louise had puppies at home and other members had other commitments but we managed to get together 8 Leos including Gamba the puppy. This was Gamba's first big event and he was perfect on the day walking round with his L Plates on and loving all the attention he was getting. We had to set up our Gazebo's right down the bottom of the field which was on a slope which meant the dogs had to pull the carts back up the hill. It's a good job we only had to do this twice as I found it hard going, let alone the dogs. We had two presentations to make, one for the best dog of the day and one for best bitch of the day. After we had done our job the rest of the day was our own to enjoy. There was a Fair ground and lots of stalls. Martin Clunes was judging most of the dog events that were going on throughout the day, then he took part in the Horse show with two of his own horses. We spent the afternoon giving cart rides to small children for a donation to the Air Ambulance and raised £20.00 for them. A very enjoyable day was had by all and I can recommend this event to anyone living in that area or on holiday. We have been asked to return next year as they where very impressed with our carts and stand. The Fair will be held on Sunday 19th August 2012 details can be found on their website www.buckhamfair.co.uk
I would like to thank Pauline & Andrew Simmonds,Emma Field, Debbie & Justin for being available on the day and making it well worth the long journey.

Christchurch & New Forest Canine Society
We have been doing a display for the Christchurch show for the last 3 years and so far the weather has been on our side.During the dog show we parade around the rings and during the lunch break the Best in Show judge has the task of picking the best dressed cart. This year it went to the Wagon cart in picture 2.
